In a design moment that is anticipated all year, the self-proclaimed color gurus at The Pantone Color Institute recently announced their color of the year for 2018: Ultra Violet. In announcing the organization’s 10th anniversary pick, Pantone’s Executive Director described the hue with terms like contemplative, complex and reminiscent of music icons Prince and David Bowie.
Whether used as a dramatic backdrop, an accent accessory to infuse a burst of color into a neutral space or blended into a painting, Washington, D.C. area interior designers I contacted had a mixed to reaction to shade, but they shared ideas for decorating with Ultra Violet.
